The time now is 0315. I begin my post.
The day began nondescript. Mmorpg as usual. No one reminded me to bring the tix for the ballet thingy. Fortunately, i remembered myself at the last minute. Phew.
What ballet thingy? Well.. my cousin’s dancing class has this performance thing and she has a part in two of the fourteen scenes. Attended something similar two years ago. But since i’ve lost a year of my life after quitting my job (i don’t remember anything of it), it seems like it was only last year.
Anyway, i met sworn cousin and their friend Zen at Cityhall before heading over to the theatre. Decided to buy flowers. Again they chose a single flower boquet. Again i was against it, i always prefered multiple flowers boquet. Well..
Zen said that my cousin likes white roses and that we should get the white roses instead of the.. i have no idea what flower we picked. I think it was germanium or something like that.
That’s when i did my rolls eyes thing. With regard to liking white roses.. You know. I know. She knows we know. We know she knows we know. So why not just let her boyfriend do the white roses thing and we give some other colors? If everyone in the know gives only white roses, she’ll never get flowers of other colors.
Obtw.. the flowers thing.. what happens is that at the end of the performance, people, friends and families, gives flowers to their loved ones who performed in the performance. So that’s why we were getting flowers.
Got to Victoria Concert Hall, got redirected next door to Victoria Theatre, got into our seats and switched off our phones and waited. Our seats were 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. I think. Zen took 10, me 11, sworn cousin 12. 13 and 14 was dancing cousin’s one among five best friends and boyfriend.
While waiting, i caught sight of the dancing cousin’s brother. Came with girlfriend of three years. First time i’ve seen her in person. Akwardly pertified when i sat beside her to talk over her to my cousin. Well, the seat beside my cousin was occupied.
As i was heading back to my seat, someone was occupying a seat near us resulting in me having to excuse my way in. After i shimmied past the guy, it suddenly occured to me that that guy was in seat 14. I don’t know the cousin’s boyfriend’s face, but since this guy is in the right seat, i hailed him anyway, “Hello Victor.”. I’m not sure if he even knows who was hailing him, lol. I’m not a big fan of introductions.
Hmm.. i’m very friendly liao loh. I greeted him wor..
Anyway, the performance began with some spiffy fast non-ballet dancing with lots of screaming by the dancers. Sworn cousin didn’t like it. I thought it kind of refreshing.
The pas de deuxs were nice even if all were quite similar. The gymnastic cum ballet thing was also nice. The costumes for the Beauty and the Beast scenes were impressive. The one where the dancers were in red.. was it tutu? was also kind of nice.
After the performance, we were waiting for the dancing cousin to change and come out. There were three boquets. One with three white roses from her friend. One with 4 roses (i think) 2 white, 2 pinkish from her boyfriend. And between sworn cousin, zen and me, we shared only one flower. See, told you we were cheapskate.
Anyway, as i said, we were waiting and the boyfriend was holding onto two boquets. He said he wanted to go to the toilet and passed the flowers to me. So i was holding the program in one hand and the flowers in the other hand.
Then this young babe in purple (i think) top came up to me with a camera to ask me to help her take a photo with her friends. So what did you think LB was gonna do. What else does he ever do when approached by lovely young babes.
I raised my (technically my cousin’s) flowers and said my (in)famous line: “Will you marry me?”
I kind of mumbled it out considering that i’m a shy guy afterall. She didn’t quite hear what i said but saw me raising the flowers and asked Zen to help them take a photo instead.
Actually, i think she heard what i mumbled. Just that she couldn’t exactly be sure that what she heard was really what i said. I mean like, you don’t expect guys to randomly ask you to marry him when you ask him to help you take a photo.
Anyway i thought i caught her eyeing me eyeing her after that, lol. You know you want me, babe.
So what’s worse than a rejection after you proposed to your (potential) one true love? You get totally ignored.
Anyway.. it was off to Macdonalds, my most hated food. By the time we parted, it was pass midnight. Headed off to get a taxi at Fullerton Hotel we did.
I hadn’t checked my savings account balance in a long time. When i did recently, i discovered that i’m kind of in a critical red zone. I can no longer afford conveniences like taxis if i’m to survive the next few months.
So when the person who lives in Toa Payoh asked me if i’m sharing a taxi with someone who lives further away from me than Toa Payoh, i know no one is going to give me a free ride.
So i walked.
I figured if i get to Suntec -> Dhoby Ghaut -> Orchard Road -> Serangoon Road, i would be home eventually. As walking around aimlessly doesn’t exactly get you places, i ended up in Bugis (seems like all roads lead to Bugis for me) backtracked a little, came to Beach Road, and decided to walk along Beach Road just to see what happens.
Fortunately, an idea struck me before lightning did (it was drizzling slightly). “Follow the bus route”, a voice from above resounded to me. So i did, following bus 100′s route, came to Kallang MRT and i was like.. hey, i could use the park connector and cut over to Braddell.
Hell.. the distances seemed so much shorter when i’m on a bicycle.
Along the park connector, came to Yvonne’s block, briefly considered waking her up with a text so she could bring me a drink, but decided against it coz it was 0200+ and i was a nice guy.
Along the park connector, came to Serangoon Road, and i was like.. hey, i’m back on track. So i followed Seragoon Road, which was the original plan, which was also a big detour and finally came home.
The time now is 0405. Here i end my post. Good morning, blogosphere.
